Tues - Ludington State Park

Another glorious day in Michigan. The skies were clear and the temperature topped off off at 70°F. We headed north to Ludington State Park, a multipurpose location with beach, camping, hiking trails and biking trails. We had purchased a yearly state park pass when we arrived in Michigan and found it a more convenient way to zip in and out of the parks without paying each time.

First we HIKED to the Big Sable Lighthouse. Enjoy the picture. We worked hard to get it. We walked the 1.75 mi out along the shoreline staying at the water line as much as possible to get hard packed sand. We took the regular trail back (another 1.75 mi to the car) and found it to be much easier walking as far as the terrain was concerned.

After a picnic lunch on the shore of Lake Michigan, we set up our bikes and did the paved bike trail out to Hamlin Lake and back along the Sable River.

On the way home we stopped at White Village, a collection of historic buildings from the area.

We got back to Peggy's house late afternoon. MORE HUMMINGBIRDS!!!!
